A 42-storey residential tower required NBC 2016-compliant stairwell pressurization to prevent smoke ingress during fire emergencies. The system needed to maintain 50 Pa differential pressure with up to 5 doors open simultaneously.
Installed Aerotech centrifugal blowers with variable speed drives for stairwell pressurization. Pressure sensors on each floor feed back to VFD control, maintaining setpoint regardless of door open/close status. Dual-fan redundancy with auto-changeover.
NBC 2016 compliance achieved and verified by fire department. 50 Pa differential maintained with 5 doors open simultaneously. System passed all acceptance tests including smoke test. Building received occupancy certificate.
