Multiple diesel generator rooms at a large petrochemical complex were overheating due to inadequate ventilation. Ambient temperatures inside DG rooms were exceeding 55°C, causing generator derating and frequent trips.
Designed and installed forced ventilation systems using Aerotech axial flow fans and bifurcated fans. Inlet louvres and exhaust cowls positioned for maximum cross-flow. Each system sized for 40 air changes per hour.
DG room temperatures reduced to below 40°C under full load. Generator derating eliminated. Fuel efficiency improved by 3.5% due to cooler intake air. System has operated maintenance-free for 18 months.
